Unbelief and False Belief

Unbelief and False Belief

John’s Gospel records that many people believed in Him as they heard His words and saw His miracles. For others, His words and miracles had the opposite effect. They refused to believe in Him, and some—the religious leaders—even wanted to kill Him. But some “believed” in Jesus, only to turn their backs on Him later. Their faith was a false faith: believing in a “different” Jesus, believing that works will save a person, believing in traditions. Jesus says that many will profess faith in Him, and even look religious, but on the day of judgment He will say to them, “I never knew you; depart from me.” What a sad, tragic day that will be.
