We at CFC are passionate about living out our faith and extending the love of God to the orphan, the widow, the poor, and other needy people in our community, our region, and around the world. One way we do that is by linking with organizations that work with the disadvantaged and marginalized to help them get a fair wage for their work. We have been privileged to sponsor the International Fair Trade Sale (IFTS) every December at the Dearborn County Fairgrounds in Lawrenceburg, Indiana since 2012.
Locals can shop thousands of items handmade by individuals from many countries who are struggling to break the cycle of poverty, to keep their children from human traffickers, to overcome marginalization from disability, and to find life after being rescued from the sex trade. Handcrafted jewelry, purses, leather handbags, household items, Christmas ornaments, instruments, bookends, scarves, pottery, and more make unique Christmas gifts! We help people shop with a purpose! All proceeds are returned to the artisans and help them earn a fair and living wage for their craft.
This article gives you five ways that fair trade can help you live out your faith.
